tire PSI digital read-out question

I just got new tires put on my 2006 TL. Tires are fine but on my digital read out of my tire pressure on the dash, the PSI readings are now up at like 50Ppsi where it used to be in the 30’s. The dealer didn’t put them on, I had tire kingdom put them on. Does something have to be reset to register the new tire pressure? Does Acura use special valve stems to talk to the digital read out? I really don’t think they inflated my tires to 50psi when the max load is about 34psi. Any ideas? Thanks.

Easiest thing to do is check the air pressure the old fashion way with a gauge. However, I am not saying you're wrong, but most tires with the stock tire size either run 44 psi or 55 psi MAX written on the tire. You might be surprised what shops will do. And do not underestimate that the shop that put the tires on have gauges that are off. I have seen it before!

Couldnt agree more, wouldnt be one bit surprised if your tires were inflated to the max recommended by the tire manufacturer vs. the vehicle manufacturer..... like apalmer mentioned, alot of tires are 44psi max cold pressure..... after driving in the summer heat 50psi is not one bit hard to believe.
