TL-S lease?

I'm new to the forum but after heading to the dealership and getting quotes to buy the TL-S I'm starting to consider a lease. I got quoted 37k out the door to buy which is high.

What terms have people gotten lately for their leases?

$37K out the door is not that bad..... what is the tax rate where you live? Invoice on the car is just under $36K so tax, title and license for approximately $1200 is not bad at all...... tax on that car where I live would be around $2300 alone.

6% sales tax. I know it's a great car, but I got a quote on a NEW 07 that is around 35.5k out the door...cant see why the dealer wont budge to 35 out the door on the 08. That makes it easier to tackle the finance. Its a LEFTOVER 2008....I would expect better deals, but what can you do.He's going 2k off sticker plus 1000 rebate plus 2.9%....and its still a big number.

At $2K off sticker and an additional $1K you are buying the car for around $500 under invoice..... that is a pretty good deal, at this point the dealer is making very little if any profit at all. Throw in the 2.9% financing and your getting quite the buy.

I know its a decent "deal", but the car is leftover, and the new model is on the way to the dealership. I want another 1500 off and I'd think hard about signing.

For the 36 month lease I got quoted 2k down and 410 a month. Sounds a bit high. Would a 24 month be any better?

Let me ask you this, how much do you love the current 3rd gen TL? Are you the kind that live to change car every few years and get your hands on new cars. Or are you the kind that typically fall in love with a specific car model that you can drive it for 10 years or more with no problem?

Cuz I can tell you straight out lease will look cheaper and more appealing at 1st. But if you plan to eventually own it for many years to come...lease is actually a complete rip off. You are guarentee to pay more than you needed to eventually. But if you just like to drive it for lets say 2-3 years and change to something different. Then in that case, lease is probably cheaper way to go for u. Of course by leasing u r limited to the miles u can drive per year. And can't mod your car.

For me, I love the current 3rd gen TL too much to even lease it. I will straight out buy it without hesitation cuz I want to keep for at least 10 years or even untill it dies.

I just got a new 08 for $36,300 out the door. That was taking the $2500 rebate. That was pretty much the best price I think I could have gotten. I talked to 3 dealers in the area and nobody would go lower than that. I maybe could have squeezed someone for another $100-$200 if I really tried. But I was tired of talking to the salesman. I was happy with the deal I got.

The tax on the car was around $2300 I think. Most of the first prices I got from the dealers on the 08 was upper $36,XXX.

I just got an '08 w/Navi but they were going to give me a TL-S for my price negotiated plus a flat 2K. That would have made it about $35,600 out the door. There are a few specials going on right now that you can throw into the pot when negotiating: There's a 1.9% financing special until 9/3 that was advertized during the olympics. Also, Acura participates in the Costco car pricing program which by rule of thumb is about invoice price minus $200. Even if the dealership you're dealing with doesn't participate, you can just say another dealership that does gave you that quote and you'd like them to beat it.

I tried that. The dealers near me were not budging. Then the issue was colors I wanted. I wanted white or silver. The white ones were gone and there was only 2 silver ones left in my area. So I went with the best thing I had going at the time.

Yeah they have a black and a blue TLS on the lots, thats it. They dont seem to be budging either, thats why I'm kicking around a 2 year lease. But I know at the end of 2 years I'm gonna be sitting in the same position needing a new car. Maybe I'll just suck up a little bigger payment and get it paid off as soon as I can. It just seems like more of a commitment to buy the car than to lease it...lease is a couple grand down and sign and drive.

Yea 1 thing sux about lease, have to go through the hassle of salesman every 2-3 years. If you do buy with no money down, your payment will be like $700 monthly roughly for a 5 year loan (u pay around $42K total). With $10k down, maybe around $500 monthly 5 year loan also (u pay around $40k total). Both base on interest around 6%APR. The interest you save for the entire loan is roughly around$2K.

Or if your lease 2 years $400/month u will pay $9600, not even $10k yet. And if u decide to buy it for the remaining value, which is still gonna be the retail value with low mileage since you are limited on miles u can drive. That might be as high as $30k still. Unless u have $30k sitting around (possible), u might need to finance that amount and will end up paying more for the car.

Or if you decided u like something else and lease or buy something else, which is what u might need to do, then is ok. Just more hassle. Sorry I guess I got a little obsess with numbers...lol...ignore me if you feel like it.

Check out Maxima in terms of lease and buy, also very high for the 09s.

I like BOTH lease and buy.

I like lease because
-I can put little down
-24 month lease I'm not gonna pay too much over those 2 years versus a 5 year large loan.
- Dont have to "marry" the car, can drive it, and if I love it can always buy it later for the buyout value(which will be lower than a full finance right now even with some extra interest.
- Set amount I owe is way less than 38k.

Buying:
-own it, pay it off, have it for a long time
-get rid of it when i want
- dont have to be a stickler on maintenance etc

Tough call. For some reason a lease feels like a lot less commitment, which makes it an easier decision for now.

I would get the 15k a year allotment even though I wouldn't be CLOSE to that.....but with 12k i may feel like I cant take it on trips.
