TYPE-S for the Future??? Yes or No

I have been looking at all the automakers and they are making powerful versions of their cars. Cadillac CTS-V, BMW M models, Mercedes AMG, Lexus LSport, Audi S and RS, Volvo R models, ect... Do you guys think Acura will make a Type S model and is the new A-Spec Concept the new Type-S. So state your opinion for the future. I hope they make a TYPE-S soon. What do you THINK??

I remember reading somewhere that Acura said they were doing away with Type S models altogether (or at least the moniker). The RSX Type S was supposed to be the last one made.

However, that being said there is always a demand for the premium model of any performance-oriented vehicle. I imagine the A-Spec will become the Type S but I don't think it will badged Type S.

Well, the TL already has "type-S" power... I don't think, in it's current form, it can really handle that much more power...

perhaps the TL will benefit from a trickle down of a hybrid setup like the one that the new RL is rumored to have (assuming that the rumors are true). then maybe it can handle more power, but as Matt says, I still don't think they would call it a "type-S"

There has to be a Type S series models like what the other automakers are doing with M, AMG,S/RS,L Sport, Type V.ect... Maybe the NSX V6 motor for the present car will be in the type S in AWD trim hmmm.

i agree with haf on how acura is taking the type s. if they stay with the current setup, having a type s isn't bringing them anywhere. but if it's like what jesal said and they really come out with awd and more power, then it's debatable. but i will just hold my breath and see

I think the TL concept, with the 300+ HP is the direction Honda is going for the 2006 model. Remember, Honda does things in cycles. New versions every 4 years. After it arrives, it gets refreshed for the 3rd and 4th year.

It wouldn't be surprising if they repeat what was done with the 2000-2003 models, specifically during the last 2 years of production, with the new headlights and grill and more HP on the Types S (now called A-Spec) .......

You meant every "5" years, right? The 2nd gen TL came out in '99.
