2000 GS 4dr Cat Converter question
Hey everyone. I drive an RL (old man), but I have a friend who just called me from the dealer in a panic when the mechanic said she needs a new Cat at $900 before labor. Yeah Right.
I've search acuraautomotiveparts.org and I saw it for $629.00. Anyone know where we can do better than $600 for a legal Cat? Thanks BTW, he also quoted $1100 for a radiator replacment, also before labor! |

i know integra cats can be found for like 100 bucks on craigslist and they take about 20 minutes to swap if you know what your doing..
and usually a honda can go 250k miles before needing a new cat.

Thanks... So it's sounding like they may have been trying to make some money off of her. The car only has 68,000 miles. I was quite suspicious when she told me that.
I better do an OBD-II read on it and find out what's wrong. It could be a sensor. Since it was a woman, with a 3 year old baby in her arms, and a CEL on - they probably thought they were going to get some quick cash. |

You'll love this...
I did some research and found out the Integra Cat's are warranted for 8yrs or 100k miles. So my friend is in the shop today getting a brand spankin new Cat installed. And guess what? I think it was the O2 sensor that was bad and the mechanic was trying to replace the Cat for some quick revenue. Now they're replacing the Cat and probably didn't need to. Karma is a mo$*&^*(cker |
