2000 gs-r vtech problem plz help!

Hello. I have a 2000 integra gs-r with the b18c1. it has the exhaust done from headers back and a short ram air filter. I am having problems with the v-tech in that about 1000-1500 miles after an oil change the vtech won't kick in at or right around 4500rpms when it should. It always runs completly fine up untill about 1000 miles then at around the 5000-5500 rpms i can hear the vtech spiraticaly click in and out a few times. other than that i feel like a have a power loss in the lower rpm range also. I use 10w30 oil and i get it changed about every 1500 miles due to the problem I've been having. I also only use premium octane fuel because the same thing happends when i use lower grade fuel. Should I switch to a different oil? What can i do or have done that will fix the problem with the vtech and prevent me from having so much power loss so soon after an oil change? Thank you for your help and time.

Sounds to me like the solenoids are sticking.

first off, vtec not v-tech.

there are a few things that could be going wrong here, but my guess is you are either leaking or burning oil, thus less oil pressure, which in turn makes vtec not kick in.

so what else could be the problem besides leaking/burning oil? maybe time for another tune up with a different mechanic?
