air filter quality

so i had a misshap the other day while i was "recharging" my injen air filter. i stepped on it and now its mashed up so i went to my local autozone and picked up a "spectre" air filter fits fine and everything but im just wondering if these things are any good or should i just use that one for now and buy and other injen one when i get some $. the injen one is smaller than the spectre but im not sure if that matters since my pipe to my intake manifold is the same size and same amount of air is getting in. and is there really a noticable difference thats worth the money.

The spectre filter looks like the cheap filter that comes with the no brand name intake from ebay, it might are might not be a good filter, only time will tell, if you want you can get a AEM filter from ebay, eBay Store - aem outlet: Intake Systems, Oiled Air Filters, Billet Accessories it doesn't matter if you have a injen intake it should still fit.

all air filters let crap through, a guy did a test on them and if you feel like reading it, its pretty informative. he compared filter effectiveness at preventing dirt from getting past.

click here to check it out

personally, when it comes to intake and filter, i think all your buying is a name. those companies sell other beneficial products and realized that by selling a bent pipe with a cone on the end for 200 bucks they can make a killing.

a cone is a cone, some may have more technological advancements in the fiber material, but they will still let stuff pass. save some money and go with something based around OE measures. OE products are by far the most rigorously tested and must meet certain quality standards.
