Any real benefit from strut bar?
I bought an integra with front and rear strut bars. I want to know if there is any real benefit from having them. I have heard that there is no real benefit unless I'm doing some hard racing (which I dont do). I would like to use my hatch area for a subwoofer enclosure. And for the size enclosure I need for my subwoofers, I would have to remove the rear strut bar.

Since you don't really do any racing (on the track) I think you'll be fine with out them, if you just want some better handling then stick with lowering springs, or coil overs.

The concept of a strut bar is intended on reducing the flex between the front strut towers during hard cornering loads. By reducing this flex, it allows suspension points to remain undisturbed, allowing for the suspension to do it's job properly. This often gives the drive a feeling of increased stability and improved turning response.
Since the rear suspension points do not see the same kinds of forces during hard corner (when compared to the front), a rear bar is typically unnecessary in a street application. Since you are planning on putting a sub in the back, it would just intrude the extra space.

Like MC said it will "intrude" as he said b/c more than likely your not going to the track and if u were your car is not going to have to withstand the hard cornering as the front which I would presume because there is more wear and tear b/c it is FWD obviously.... Which makes integras efficient in taking corners... I myself would like your current setup....but that is the great part about these cars is that u can set them up how YOU want it to be....some people desire and prioritize certain things over another and thats why they are perfect for customizing them to their own specific wants. After all if everyone else likes it but you don't for your car.......What have you accomplished???

Integra owners are vultures, I swear. "You're thinking about taking your STBs out? What're you gonna do with them if you do?" *wink*wink* I was thinking the same, exact thing. I'm honestly surprised it took four responses for that question to come up. ![]()
