exhaust toooo loud - Acura Forum

hey guys i need ur suggestion about what i could about my loud ass exhaust...i liked it at the beginning but now its just gettin to me and everyone could hear me comin from a mile away.
first off my car is a 92 teg 5spd with a megan racing header, carsound cat, ebay CAI with k&n filter and thermal R&D catback exhaust. the catback has a built in resonator in the midpipe. everything is installed right with no leaks. the exhaust note is nice but its a too loud and i was wondering if theres anything i could do. i dont really have the cash to get another setup and i also dont want to lose any hp gains. i was thinkin about a silencer but that means i would have to drill a hole to screw it in and it would look crappy IMO...

the "builtin" resonator is just for looks. its not a real one. That setup you have is pretty free flowing. I'm not familiar with that carback exhaust but I would think about puting a muffler on that you can install a silencer if you are having problems with the noise.

ya the thermal setup is one of the louder ones. you basically have a straight pipe.
i would look into a new catback.

would it be a good idea to replace the builtin one with a real one?

you could, but it might reduce the value of the exhaust if you ever try to sell it.

o ok...i was thinking about a new catback but im low on cash and not a lot of ppl make catbacks for 92 4dr tegs anymore

You could always sell the one you have now, that is to loud for you, and buy a axle back, and have a muffler shop make you a custom pipe.
