help with engine shopping

what's up, newb here. I'm looking into buying a 90 integra ls, great deal as the frame is straight and transmission is good, the engine is blown though, I'm new to acura's and am not sure what kind of engine I should be looking for. I've been told that a standard honda b18? motor would work. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for? I've got about 1000 to spend on the engine. .any help would be appreciated.

b18a would be good, but upgraded motor would be cool, too... watch out where you buy a motor tho, especially if its not in a car, dont get ripped...do some mods on the engine compartment and go h22 or h23...woohoo...

I'd say keep looking for another one that is "ready to go". How much were they selling the frame and tranny for anyway?

the car is in great shape besides the engine and a paint job. It was at a local tow yard and I talked them down to 450. I've been looking for awhile now, just thought I'd hit up this forum since you guys all drive acura's and see what the deal was. I have about 3 g's to dump into a car and don't mind a project.

If you willing to spend $3,000 your better off buying a car that has a engine that doesn't need to be replace, I'm sure you could find a second gen integra for under $3,000.

I seen them go anywhere from $1,300- 2,500

Yea, sell the shell and just buy a complete 94+ integra. They're not too hard to find as I-guy pointed out.

I've gotten a 95' integra 4dr auto ls w/ 180k miles for $2,900.

but if you insist on building this teg with a 3,000 budget. I'd look into buying a b18c1 (Gsr motor dohc vtec).

B18c1 bottom end: $300-400
Head: $300-400
intake manifold: $20

Then slowly piece things together or the complete swap goes for around $2,000. Granted you'll need gauges, harness and ecu but there are places that will take your ls harness and convert it to the gsr one i believe.
