How can I build an indestructable engine?

Hey fellas I was just wondering, is there any way I could build an engine that could run say triple the lifespan of a regular engine? I mean i know regular engines can last a long time with proper maintenance, but are there upgrades such as rods/arms/pistons/stroker combinations that could make the engine more reliable? Thanks for any info

Hard to beat the stock engines in these things.

The secret is proper maintenance. Abuse any engine and it won't last.

Well, how dependable you want your race engine depends on how much money you'll want to throw at it. Upgrading the c-rods is always a good idea. ARP fasteners is always cheap insurance. The biggest thing is keeping everything cool. When I run enduro events, like the 25hr @ Thunderhill, the car for the most part stays pretty stock as far as mods go. We just keep everything nice and cool. We have a cooler for everything. Oil cooler, trans cooler, diff cooler, larger radiator, brake ducting, etc etc etc.

about better cooling. Some people just dump money into upgrading the engine without even thinking about getting better cooling. I upgraded my radiator to a bigger one and it ran cooler and felt better than the stock radiator. It also looks badass in the engine bay when you get a polished aluminum radiator

you could buy 3 engines and properly maintain all of them.

choose 2 of the 3 ...

power, reliability, cheap.

Not to mention people usually forget about the break system.

Good catch. But yea, keep the engine cool and understressed and it'll last you for a long good while.
