very easy
-phillipshead screwdriver remove the whole top section were the rear speakers are, 3 screws. 1 rear , 1 middle next to speaker, 1 facing front behind the back seat. the speaker itself should have 4 screws holding it down, if theres no speaker there you might not have those screws though. if yoru using factory wireing then you should be able to plug and play with factory wires. Download a manual (hondahookup.com) and figure out whats your +/- wires for the speakers. This is very necessary, although it will work crossed, it wont sound right. if its aftermarket wires or the wires were soldered on the speaker or something you might need some connectors and wire crimpers. I also must note that you should change out all your speakers if your worried about the sound quality, added expence, but it'll sound better.

I betcha you have rear speakers, and there's a short somewhere or something. It'd be pretty hard to believe that a car just didn't come with rear speakers.
Installation isn't too bad, provided that you can take the interior apart. Just take all that interior plastic and seats out from the hatch area and then (assuming all your wiring's good), cut the wires on your current speakers, put the new ones in, and wire them the exact same. Pretty simple. |

They could have been blown or had the cones popped / slashed etc and someone else removed them and said what the hell, you'll know pretty quick when you take the covers off. Are you sure someone just didn't fade the balance on the head unit 100% to the front speakers? It would stink to fool around with all that and realize that it was just a setting on the stereo for someone trying to let a backseat passenger get some sleep (i've done this as a DD myself plenty of times).
