Maybe someone can help me out with this.....
As you may or may not know..Jackson Racing has a catalytic converter for the Integra. I have heard somethings that this piece causes trouble after some time. But this is only from Miata owners....does anybody know if this would happen to the Integra? Also, will this thing pass emissions?? Does anyone know a good cat. converter that I could get?? Thanks for any help..... ![]() |

IDK about Jackson Racing Cats, but if its high flow it wont pass emissions testing, which i'm assuming it is...
The best cat to go with is always OEM, that way you'll pass emissions and only hurt your performance a little

Yea Jackson Racing says its high performance
so i guess that counts as high flow but it says it is 50 state legal...... i currently have a axle back with the rest stock...... i was trying to get a better sound/performance..... without having to get a whole new exhaust.... i was going to get a new exhaust pipe...along with a new cat. any suggestions?? Are all high flow cats. CARB exempt? ![]()

Try Random Technology. They make hi flow cats for Tegs which claim to be 50 state legal also.
I don't know for sure if either of them do pass emissions. Still saving up for the hi flow. Is anyone sure if the Jackson cat or Random cat passes emissions? What if you have intake and exhaust which also claim to be 50 state legal... will that along with the hi flow be pushing it too much so it wont pass?

well i know that AEM intakes have the little seal
that says it is CARB Approved. atleast mines does. and I've had no problems getting a emissions with it. I've looked Random Tech. I just want to get a hi flow that wont give me a hassle when I have to get my emissions. What kind of setups do you guys have? And have you ran into any trouble where you cant get your emissions?

Would you suggest just getting a custom exhaust pipe made and leaving the OEM cat?? ![]() |

i would say that that is the safest bet....i have a performance muffler, and then just got the local shop to do 2.5" piping from the cat to the muffler....very inexpensive, and it sounds/performs good
good luck....just to give u an idea, i paid about 130$ for the muffler, and about another 150$ for the piping/labor...all in all, a nice cat back system for less than 300$....you cant beat it, and i've never had any emissions trouble in PA or NJ

yeah, just leave the stock one, but you can do 3" piping...
the difference between 4-1 and 4-2-1 is the pipes it take to narrow down to one. this is believe to create less resriction in the exhaust creating more hp...

i think he meant whats the difference between 2 piece 4-2-1 and one piece 4-2-1....i dont believe that DC makes the one piece 4-2-1 for anything but the gs-r.....DC sports makes good headers, definitely go 4-2-1 for NA setups....yes you could do 3" piping, at the expense of your bottom end...2.5" is a good balance, because u dont lose too much low end, and u still gain a bit on the top end.

The exhaust size goes by you header collector size.. so if you have a 2.5" collect you want to have a 3" mid pipe, if you have a 2" collector then you'll want to get 2.5" mid pipe, you can't just say it will give you a good high end or low end untill you know the size of you're collector... but usually you want to go with 3" with LS motors and 2.5 with GS-R. I went 3" on mine and u can't really see a difference either way, but it doesn't hurt my performance thats for sure b/c my muffler tip is 2.75.. it allows it to flow nicely threw the middle and then tunes it at the end so i have some back pressure and thats what you want.. a balance of highflow and back pressure if you mid pipe is to small and you exhaust tip is to big you back pressure will be f'd up and you wont get any power increase, maybe even hurt performance.. you need the right tip with the right headers and the right mid pipe.
you don't want 1-piece headers anyways.. its a bitch to change the oil pan gasket and anything in that area if you do 1-piece headers..

Yo acura2g, you really dont want 3 in. piping at all on a NA ls setup. 3 in. would be ideal on a FI ls setup. It is a very common myth that some backpressure is good, however, it is just that, a myth. Its a common misconception. In an ideal exhaust set up there would be as little backpressure as possible. Exhaust pusles in a 3 in. pip sort of zig-zag and dont have enough velocity as does a 2.5 in. setup.

It depends on the collector of the header... like i said... if you have a 2.5" COLLECTOR YOU WANT A 3" MID PIPE... if you have a 2" get a 2.5" mid pipe... if you have stock header then get 2.25" its good all the way up to 200hp.. you wont have to change the exhaust at all... its not a myth b/c it depends on the collector. its only a myth i guess if you have a 2" collector or stock header.
and i see what your saying, but you have to realize how the hole system works.. you are correct that if you have a 2" collector then a 3" mid pipe would give you to much room and not able to push the ehxuast correctly.. and back pressure plays an important roll on anycar just try sticking a 4" exhaust tip on your car and drive around... same with hallowing your cat, you never wanna hallow out your stock cat (like i did) it will give you too much space and the exhaust with create too much backpressure. if you're go'na do anything.. if you have a 2.5" collector, just do 3" from the headers back and take out the cat and resonator. but if the person is go'na stick with stock header wich is 1 7/8" exhaust i would just go with 2.25" or 2.50" if your go'na do performance headers which is what i thought then you have to go by the collector
