new civic hatchback

Hey guys picking up a 98 honda civic hatch (ek I think they call them) in the morning. Slightly wrecked needing a fender and a headlight. Just wondering how these motors hold up? I believe it to be the D16Y7 non-vtec. The car is bone stock and black, clean with 170,000mi. Also is this an innerfearence motor? Sorry just new to this motor and car. Thanks guys
