For optimal fuel efficiency and power, what is the best choice for an octane rating for my 91LS? I know they run at 9.2 compression ratios, so 87 or 89 probably work best. Where i live, the difference between 87 and 89 is only 2 cents a gallon, so the price isn't a factor. On my first integra, the timing was advanced slightly (only by a tooth) when my mechanic redid the Timing belt/water pump, and i noticed it ran better on 87. But i just bought my 2nd integra and it has an aftermarket exhaust and cold air intake and i'm not sure if my engine will run optimally on 87.
Id save your 0.02 and buy 87. There is no reason why your teg should require >87 or benefit from it either.
