Plugs and Wires
Well guys its bout time to take care of some regular maintenence things on my car, turns out with the CEL Scan I got, ive got bad O2 Sensors, and a cylinder 2 mis-fire... *tear*
The CEL hasnt come back on yet, which leads me to believe the O2 Sensors arent bad, but the car still has a slightly hesitation in 5th gear thats noticeable, and id like to start with new Spark Plugs and wires. What do you all recommend for brands/types that work well with our Cars? Ive got a 1998 Integra RS. Of course first I wanna get bosch platinum pluses, or NGK's for plugs. but im not sure what experience you have all had, and what u think works best. As far as wires go, I cant really decide. I dont have the cash to work out for nology or anything along those lines, so id like to get a decent set that will also work as well/better then OEM. Thanks a bunch, -Mayo

Check out the articles on T-I if you haven't already, they have a lot of good stuff on plugs. There's one about using platinum plugs that's pretty informative. I'd link ya, but I'm at work and the filter > me.

Don't go with the bosch. As far as plugs go, stick with NGK or Denso. Save some cash and stick with the copper variety. If you're looking to eek out some more MPG along with a few horses, get the iridiums.
Plug wires, just stick with a nice set of NGK wires. They're not overly expensive (except at national auto parts chains, where they'll rip you a new asshole regardless of what you buy) and for OEM application, they work exceptionally well. As far as the cap as rotor, I too would want you to check that first. The cap, you probably can go cheap and get away with it (although failure rate is a bit higher with leads falling off). For the rotor, get YEC or Honda (which is made by YEC).

The main ways you can tell a cap and rotor are bad
-Carbon build up on the points -Carbon trails on the cap -Cracks on the cap Like C25A1Guy said stick with NGK or Denso. I personally use NGK in all my cars and i've never had a problem with replacements. Bosch is a POS and in most Acura including the high compression engines they actually cause problems like knocking, pinging and misfiring which will throw codes. Stick with what you know works for your and NGK is a safe bet. As for the miss fire, start cheap with a simple tune up with some decent parts and see how long it goes before throwing another code if at all. Rule of thumb to think about when it comes to O2 sensors. They are often garanteed for 75k miles so if you're under that or around that you probably don't need to change them. I went 200k in my integra before needing to replace mine and all my cars that have over 100k on them have never thrown a code for O2 sensor. Unless the code comes back on for O2 sensor I wouldn't worry to much about that. Not saying its not that, but start cheap then worry about 02 sensors.

Thanks dude, it hasnt thrown the 02 sensor code or any others yet...
Ill stick with NGK as I thought that'd be the best way to go for plugs and wires, matching is always good. Ill check around for cap and rotor, most likely just get honda replacement ones as I would rather not get some cheap POS that's gonna die on me. Now...to get the money =D

Wow looks like im not the only person with this problem, there is a 4 page thread over at T-I with a lot of guys having this issue. Glad to know im not alone.
Also, anyplace in particular where u all prefer to buy ur parts online? Theres a lot of different websites out there and wondering what u all recommend. NGK.com and the OEM Acura website look real nice so far.
