poping/gurgling noise

when i accelerate i hear a poping noise. ive taken my teg to my car guru and had him tell me what he thinks is wrong. no exhaust leaks, timing isnt off, he tells me it might be my cat getting old. anyone else have any other ideas that i might check first that would save me some money

can u explain in a little more detail what u mean by poping/gurgling?

is it coming from ur engine bay?
or is it coming from ur exhaust?
or does it only do it when it hits a certain amount of rpm's?

it sounds like its coming from closer to the engine than the muffler. pretty much the cat. like right under my feet. and i can only hear it when my windows are down or if my music is off completely, very faint sound. and i dont hear it as much when im just parked.

hmm...well your cat could be plugged up, or might have an exhaust leak?

id say pull ur cat off and see if u can look through it....if u cant see through it or if u can only see through it a little bit then its plugged up.

do u lose power going up hills? if so thats a sign of a plugged cat

actually that makes sense cuz it is louder when im going up hills, and seems a little slugish. for exhaust leaks i dont smell any exhuast in the cabin. and ive sat in it idling for a bout 30min and never felt dizzy or anything. from what ive heard then looks like im going to get a new cat, but will it pass inspection if i get a high flow like these ones Discount Car Parts Stuff - Auto Parts and Accessories Catalog - Catalytic Converter im lookin at that eastern cat for 1990-05 for LS. cuz im planning on selling my teg once i get it a paint job and i dont wanna spend money on a high flow if its not going to pass S&E.

They can't gaurentee that because for your car they are actually going to have to stick a probe in its exhaust and run the car at speed to test the emissions.
