Car 1: 90 Acura Integra LS |
Over the winter im gonna put my 90 Integra LS in the garage and turbocharge it. I've found some decent kits to do so. Comes with all the piping, inter cooler T3/T4 turbo, exhaust and intake manifolds, wastegate, BOV and a couple other thing to do it. I know i need to pick up a Boost Gauge, A/F Ratio Gauge, oil Temp Gauge and a Turbo Timer.
What else am i gonna need to finish this project. Is there any tuning that has to be done to make it work. I'm not trying to make it a race car by any means just a regular Daily Driver with a little more peep. Any input on the subject would be greatly appreciated. |

Supercharge it if you're going to do it.

in order to "properly" boost a car, a lot more than just a turbo kit is needed.
a lot of people just slap a turbo on and call it good. on my old civic waaayyy back in the day i had a gsr motor with stand alone fuel management, upgraded ignition system, stage 2 clutch and flywheel, bigger injectors, a chip from someone who claimed it would help the car run smoother with boost (which it did thank GOD). All of this was on stock internals at stock compression with 9 lbs of boost. The car's current owner tells me it's still running strong. bottom line, fuel management and a clutch were my two priorities. anymore boost and i would have rebuilt the motor and lowered the compression

how much to supercharge it. The only kit i found was a Procharger kit that was like $4k witch im not about to drop for this car.
I figured id have to do something with the fuel. I have an auto also. Once again im not lookin to build a race car. Just something to move a little quicker around town. |

If thats your theory, just goto the junkyard and take a turbo off an old eclipse or galant VR4 don't waste your money on a kit then.

how much is that T3/T4?
I wud think its a bad idea to turbo an auto, but thats just me. and with your intercooler, fuel pump, rails, etc. wont you be spending near 4K anyway?

It is a bad idea to turbo an automatic. If you do you at least need a tranny cooler.
