Water Pump Replacement

i've had my teg for about five months now. it's nearing the 100K mark and i've heard countless times about the water pump failing around that time. how vital is it to replace at 100K?? does it have to be immediately? will it destroy my engine if i don't??? i'm just starting school and obviously don't have too much extra cash laying around.

start savaing. If you do it on your own it will take cost between 70-250 bucks. When you do that i would suggest changing the timing belt because it should be changed every 90K along with the water pump. For now flush your system and make sure it is clean and you should be good till you get some money.

good deal.... i just took it in for the 90K mile service and they flushed everything. they were one of the many who mentioned the water pump. so with that service done it should be okay? approx how long do i have to save??? i love my gf and want the best for her (that's right i spend all my money on her and she's beautiful)

Diablo, Have you done your timing belt?

If not, it's very important that you get this done, either do it yourself or don't drive the car untill it's done.

Don't cheap out on the timing belt either. Oem parts are the way to go. www.prostreetonline.com has a deal where you get oem timing belt, water pump, tensioner and return spring for $140 or somthing. Otherwise the shops will be putting in autozone's "duralast water pump and duralast $15 timing belts" in your car (drualast is just an autozone product).

i just had my teg in the shop for a new radiator and a new water pump...and im at 82000 miles. Total bill came to $970. Thank god for the warranty. I still need a new timing and drive belt...possibly a valve adjustment too.
