06 MDX blown head gasket at 55K

Yup, Acura service manager could not believe it either. Check engine light came on, coolant in #4 cylinder. Acura is fixing it under 7/70 Powertrain warranty. They are ordering a new head in case it's not just the gasket.

Seems like a truly isolated incident. Though after they fix it I am going to be worried about the other head as well .

So what do you guys think ?

Should I worry ? Ever hear of anything like this happening to an MDX ?

Car was never overheated, and the first / only symptom was the check engine light.

Honestly haven't heard this on the 3.5L engine.

Somebody else my have experience with this, but I'm kind of worried for our Pilot now!

I think this is just a single incident. I have never heard of the J series V6's blowing head gaskets.

Fixed, put about 20 miles on it so far, all checks out. They said the head was slightly warped. It looks like this never happens and chalk it up to a 1 in a million defect. Hopefully we will last another 80K or so . The MDX is the wife's I drove a TSX while they had the MDX, not I kinda want one.
