2003 mdx rear brake noise

we have a 2003 Acura MDX with approximately 94k miles. recently the rear brakes started to make a scrubbing/growling noise when backing up. Took vehicle to dealer, had brake pads replaced and noise went away for a week or so then reoccured. any suggested fixes, reasons, comments, suggestions? thanks

possibly rusty rotors. Did the re-surface or replace the rear rotors?

It could also be a dust-shield contacting the brake surface. The tech may have bumped the shield, mis-aligning it.

Do you live in an area that uses road salt? Along with the possibility of rust on the rotor surface, the dust shield could be rusting out. This will cause an intermittent rubbing noise like you describe. It can be fixed by cutting out the bad section of dust-shield.

I would recommend taking it back. They should not charge you to check it out.
