2016 Honda Pilot Elite vs. 2016 Acura MDX

The 2016 Honda Pilot is brand new to the U.S. market and is as stunning as it is powerful. This high-performance SUV perfectly balances luxury and functionality in one comfortable, sophisticated package. However, it’s not without competition. The 2016 Acura MDX is just one of many. So just how do the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite vs. 2016 Acura MDX compare? Let’s take a closer look.

To start, both the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite and 2016 Acura MDX 3.5L are similarly priced and with similar EPA fuel economy estimates. Both also feature similar engine and powertrain options. Maybe the most significant difference between the two is truly the experience each provides. Not only is the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite 13.7 cubic feet larger in maximum luggage volume, it also is 21 cubic feet larger in passenger volume. The 2016 Honda Pilot Elite is also able to tow more when properly equipped. In fact, recommendations are that the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite with standard all-wheel drive can tow up to 5,000 pounds while the 2016 Acura MDX with all-wheel drive is only capable of up to 3,500 pounds.

Those aren’t the only differences between the two SUVs. The 2016 Honda Pilot Elite not only has a more spacious cabin, but more premium features. The 2016 Honda Pilot Elite is standard with a 540-Watt premium audio system with 10 speakers, HD Radio, SiriusXM Radio, leather-trimmed interior, 8-inch Display Audio with high-resolution WVGA electrostatic touchscreen, 115-Volt power outlet and much more. The list of high-end features is so extensive for the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite, but for the 2016 Acura MDX drivers will not find the same array.

In addition, the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite has something the 2016 Acura MDX does not: Intelligent Traction Management system. This unique, brand new system has Snow, Sand and Mud modes to give drivers better control in tough road conditions. Paired with the Intelligent Variable Torque Management AWD system, MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, the 2016 Honda Pilot Elite provides a smooth, precise driving experience in a variety of road conditions.
