Can the MDX factory roof rack be moved - Acura Forum

Does anyone know if the MDX factory roof rack cross bars can be moved lengthwise? The two cross bars are around 29" apart, but my 2 other cars have a 33" spread, which gives a bit more stability to the roof-top box I use to haul bulk items (skis, snowboard, etc.).

I don't see any adjustment screws, but it would really surprise me if these bars were fixed (bad design...).

Unless you want to rip apart the roof trim, they are fixed. I agree--it's a poor design. Conveniently, Acura has plenty of storage options for the rack that you can buy. Maybe it wasn't a poor design after all.

I agree with you 100%....bad design. Tried to attach my Yakima Rocket cargo box last week and I need a 32 inch spread. Current fixed rails are definitely not going to cut it.
