I will post the '01-'04 updates once they are available.

Since these discs *just* got released, if you are in the market for a new '08 RDX or MDX make sure you negotiate into the deal a new navi disc paid for by the dealer. Chances are vehicles already on the lot shipped with last year's navi disc (just pop out the disc and look at it--v4.55/4.56/4.56A means it's the old one).

For those that don't know, these updates can only be ordered from www.acuranavi.com and cost $185 + tax/shipping, so they aren't cheap.

I just bought an 07 mdx and it came with the 4.56 version nav. The dealer said they can't do anything in providing the 4.62 version.

Any suggestions - will acura Canada help?

Well they won't get it for free either. Alpine makes the disc and while they are Honda's exclusive provider of discs, they still have to buy them like we do (albeit at a much lower rate I'm sure). When I negotiated for my dad's Ridgeline, I told the dealer I wanted the new disc as part of the deal and they actually went to the www.acuranavi.com site, bought the disc at retail and gave it to us the night we picked up the truck. If you've already bought the MDX and have possession of it, I think you're SOL because it's after the fact, but if you're still in the negotiating process, it's a great bargaining deal to throw out after they won't budge any more on price.

Just installed the v4.62 update tonight.

Database info:

v4.55A (Fall 2006 update): Database = 20060502 (05/02/06), Software version 1.57.00

v4.62 (Fall 2007 update): Database = 4.62 (I think 03/17/07), Software version 1.64.00

They've changed the database version from the date the map data was finalized (as it was on all earlier versions) to just the update version. However, by looking at the contents of the disc, I believe the map data was finalized on 03/17/07.

For the '01-'02 MDXs (black disc) version info:

v2.40 (old):
-Database: 02.0502.09.071306.1402.01.00.00.02
-Software: 2.11.29

v2.50 (new):
-Database: 02.0603.11.041007.1404.01.00.00.02
-Software: 02.11.31

The bolded number represents the date the POI/Map database was finalized, so v2.40 is from 07/13/06 and v2.50 is from 04/10/07. Hopefully that will help you decide if the update is worth it in your area.

The software update is obviously very minor, if any. I didn't see any differences, and it might just be an incremental version because it is a new disc.

I just purchased an 05 MDX Touring w/ Navi and found that the disk is 413c.
Too bad for me that I did not work this into the deal, but it is what it is. Also, I had already got them to add a rear spoiler and chrome side steps to it...and that was like pulling teeth!!!!

Is the current version worth the upgrade? I live in NH.

Well, it's been two years of updates so it's probably worth at least updating the POI database. If you visit www.acuranavi.com and look at the revision history it will show you what areas got mapped. They update *everywhere* when a new disc comes out, but areas listed are usually those that had minimal/no mapping and have now been completely mapped. For example, Boston is not on the list of updates, but every year the disc shows changes in the Big Dig.
