Need to buy a hitch for my 08 MDX
Anyone out there have experience with an aftermarket hitch for an 07 or 08 MDX? There no way I am giving Acura $500+ for a hitch.
I am thinking this one may be good: Valley Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver - Acura MDX V82111 : Trailer hitch bike rack and trailer hitches - etrailer.com Any comments? |

I installed a hitch I purchased from ebay on my '03 and it works fine. I am not sure about the maker but I would rely on positive feedbacks on an ebay seller. I saved about $350, not including labor which I did on my own. Be smart with your money.

Most of the hitches are made by Hidden Hitch or Draw Tight. I have been told by the Hitch Shop that one owns the other.
they seemed to have the tightest clearance of any of the choices. My advice: find pictures of them installed, or better yet have a look at an actual installation. I saw an MDX that had one, and it looked awful. it dropped down below the bumper, and was very evident. the Acura hitch was more money, but includes a new bumper facia that is cut out to match it, and it looks significantly better although it still drops down and is visible. also, with a Non Acura hitch, you may require a weight distribution system if you go over 3500 lbs. acura hitch kit is just under $800 from their website, available at hondacuraworld .com for under $600. be careful that it includes the wiring as well. also, not all of the aftermarket hitches will work with the full size spare. doug |
