Fuel Consumption Drop
I have a 2000 tl, 81,000 km.and I check my mileage on a regular basis. Shortly after change to new tires (same make and model as on the vehicle) and put in a K&N filter, my mileage has gone down some 20%. Car runs well, smooth idle, everything fine. Went back to original filter, no difference.
Any suggestions as to what might have happened (perhaps precipitated by the use of the K&N filter with increased air flow) or what I should check next. My dealer had really no suggestion other than I might try changing the plugs.... there has been a few articles about increased air flow making some sensors not operate correctly ...is there any validity to this? Any help appreciated. Colin |

Anything like that would have tripped a check engine light. Could be the brand of fuel, or maybe your service station is short-tanking you? Hard to say here....
