Head Gasket Sealer

Has anyone used any of those head gasket sealers that you add to your antifreeze? Not the cheap ones with particles, but the more expensive kind like "Steel Seal" http://www.steelseal.com/eng/purchase.html. My 95 Legend has a small leak in the HG (antifreeze in overflow bottle slowly getting lower). I am trying to sell the car and need a quick, inexpensive fix. Any advice? Opinions?

That's the same basic thing as Radiator Solder seal.

The term "thermo bonding" just means that it melts, and onmce it seeps into a crack where it's away from direct engine heat, it cools down enough to turn from a liquid into a solid.

Will it work? Maybe. Usually the residue that is left behind ends up coating unrelated parts of the cooling system, most notably the radiator cap. If you're going to sell the car, it's best just to be honest......nobody likes getting a lemon.

I agreee; honestly is the best policy. The leak seems to come and go. Sometimes there is white steam coming from the exhaust, and other times there isn't. I will definetly let the buyer know to watch the coolant levels. I am currently asking $4500 for my 95 Legend L (179k miles), which is about $900 below blue book value (good condition). Do you think this is reasonable? Thanks for your help.

Any sealer is just for temporary. For the small leak may be it will work longer. But for the big compression piston will suck the sealer. The bad thing about the sealer is it will block the radiator too. Not only that, it will block other small part of the engine. I used that sealer for my cressida and V6 toyota pickup. And now I have to rebuilt the engine. It is better tell the buyer the real condition and up to them to decide. Lower the price is wise to compensate the repair.
