Unhappy Need help with Bose cd/cassette/radio

I cant figure this thing out. Some cds skip and some dont. But not on bumps. Sometimes certain cds will skip for no reason like when I put on the brakes. Other cds dont have any problems at all. A cd that didnt skip two days ago, skipped yesterday, didnt skip earlier this morning, but started skipping again. I am ready to rip this system out and go with an aftermarket system if I was 100% sure I could keep the subwoofer and steering wheel control. By the way, this is the factory BOSE system in a 2001 TL w/out navi, 114k miles. Is it possible to get another factory radio without paying thru the nose or should I just go aftermarket.

By chance are the ones that tend to skip ones that you burned, or are they store bought?

They are store bought. I already know about the burned cd issue.

More than likely, the steering wheel controls will go dead with any aftermarket unit. I would say that the optimal recourse would be to have your unit removed and repaired.
