The radio code that came with my 2002 3.2 TL refuses to work. The dealership said that the antenna has to be disconnected while typing in the code because it interferes with the code input. Is that really the problem? If so, then why are they trying to charge me for it? It should be considered Acura's car defect rather than my problem. It is so frustrating. Why did they have to make the anti-theft so damn secure that the owner can't unlock it? Please help!!

Antenna has to be disconnected? Never heard of that myself. Are you certain that the code is correct? If you send the radio serial number and code to me at hondacuraworld@aol.com I will verify the code for you.

Yes I am certain it is correct because I called the Westchester dealership where the car originated from. My guess is that somehow the code got changed and I'll be driving to Westchester tomorrow to fix it since they told me that it will be free of charge. I guess some dealerships are more crooked than others. Thanks for your help.

Car 1: 1991 Acura Legend L Car 2: 2003 Acura TL type S |
The radio code that came with my Acura 2003 TL type S refuses to work. I have the correct code; and I deffinitely typed it in correctly and followed the instructions cited in the user manual; however, it refuses to work.
I went to Keys Acura on Van Nuys where I bought it from to try fixing the problem. The shady service mechanic there told me that this was a problem with 2003 TL's, and that he could fix it but would have to charge me $190. He did confirm that I have the correct code; just that some technical trick involving the battery and antenna had to be done to get the radio to accept the code. This is rediculous! Why do I have to pay to activate my own radio for a car I purchased less than a year ago from a reliable dealer? This is acuras problem. The only consolation I have is my dad is in the market for a new TL and was planning on going to Key's in Van Nuys - however, I convinced him to go elsewhere. If anyone knows how I can resolve this problem and get my radio to accept the code I would be eternally grateful. I am leaving to Vegas Saturday and I would hate to have to make the drive in silence. No its not..... I was hoping that it would be... But no luck... I really wont think they would do that... Because if that the story... I f you ever get ure factory stereo and navi stole, they can get the code jus by popping your hood and gettin the code...
That would be pretty dumb if you ask me....

I posted the same radio code problem before. I researched the radio code problem in Internet. Obviously, it happened on every Acura 2002 car. My dealership said that they had to reset the computer on my car to enter the code. I had no choice but paid them because I need my radio to work. I called the Acura headquarter and complainted this problem. The person who answered the phone told me that the dealerships operate on their own and all she could do was to take the complaint. I couldn't even get a case number for reference. My friend told me that I should write to Honda instead of Acura. He got his money back for another issue. I'm going to write to Honda and hopefully, I can get my money back. If not, I will file a complaint to Better Business Bureau (BBB). Here is the link: http://complaint.bbb.org/complaintlink.aspx

I got into a car accident back in Sept. '05 and bought this car so that I can have transportation. I left the lights on the other day and drained the battery. Now my radio keeps asking for a code. I thought it was some code that it wanted me to make up but after asking a friend who also has the same car, she told me that it is a code that should be in my manual. Well I don't have a manual! I am posting this message in hopes that someone can help me and give me the code to my radio. I have the VIN#.
***Edited by Hondacuraworld. Please don't post VINs in public forum, for privacy's sake*** Someone please help me! I don't want to go to the dealer and get duped just because I am a female! |

Call the dealer that sold you the vehicle new. We as the dealer always keep a record of radio codes in case of customer inconvenience.

Radio Codes
I didn't buy the car new. I bought it from the guy who was fixing my old car. He is an independent car dealer and just goes to the car auction to buy cars. He got the car I currently hold because someone wrecked it and no longer wanted it. He fixed it and sold it from his lot.
