From here you have two options:
1. Send me your VIN via email to hondacuraworld@aol.com and I will locate your original selling dealership and you can give them a try, or.... 2. Pull the radio, get the serial number, and bring it to your local Acura dealer. They will get you the code once you provide proof of ownership.

I have the code but it doesn't work!
I have a 2001 1.7 EL and my car was in for servicing and when it came out the radio wouldn't work. (the battery was disconnected for servicing)
I have gone to the originating dealer and got the code. I've tried it and it doesn't work. We bought the car used and don't have a manual. Why won't the code work? How exactly should I enter it? Can you please help? Thanks. |

All it should take is keying it right into the faceplate. I would have the dealer try to verify the code with Acura with your radio's serial number.

ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM: YES YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE SIDE TRIM ALONG THE DRIVERS SIDE TO ACCESS THE BACK OF THE RADIO, UNPLUG THE ANTENNA, ENTER THE CODE, AND PLUG IT BACK IN. IF YOUR CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY THERE SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE, IF YOUR CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, LIKE MINE, THEN YOU BETTER START BEING NICE TO THEM OR THEY CAN AND WILL CHARGE YOU THE $190 TO DO IT IF YOU DONT WANT TO DO IT YOURSELF. I KNOW THIS CUZ ITS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES AND I HELPED THE TECH DO IT.

I had the same problem that many of you mentioned about getting an error message despite having the proper code for my Acura TL. I even went to the dealer prior to reading this post to learn that the dealer did not have a good explanation except you need to bring it in when the service department is open. After I got home I started to do a bit research and ran across this post which got me to thinking and helped me find a quicker solution which I am hoping will help others that read this.
Take your car into a parking garage underground where you will not be able to get an antenna signal, thus the antenna signal cannot interfere with the input of the radio code. I took the car into an underground garage that is two stories under where I know from past that the car antenna did not pick up anything. I entered the code and to my surprise it worked. No need to open up the side panel and disconnect the radio. I hope that this might work for someone else. Absentminded. Last edited by absentminded : 06-19-08 at 02:42 AM. i added the aux input to the back of my dash, and didn't have this issue any more! i was about to start taking the dash apart after my battery died, but said, what the heck, let me give it a try, and it worked! the only thing I could think of that was different was the blitzsafe aux input.

Car 1: 2002 Acura TL-S |
I changed my battery and my radio asked for the code when I powered up. The radio code that came with my radio (02 TL-S) doesn't work and seems to keep giving me error messages. The dealer has the same code on file. They say that it's an internal failure in the radio and that they can send it to Cali (I'm in MD) to be fixed but it will cost me approx $600.00...or I can go buy an aftermarket radio. Can someone help please!?!?!??!?!
