1987 acura legend tail lights not working right

Hello all,
I just bought an 1987 legend and have something wierd going on with the tail lights. Everything seems to work but the tail lights. What it does is when i turn the switch to parking lights they work fine and the plate light works and all the other lights like the dash lights and stuff work. When i turn it to the head/tail lights just the head lights come on and the tail lights dont turn on and also the dash light does not work and the plate light turns off. I dont know allot about cars and hope i can fix this myself. I checked all the fuses and even replaced the tail light one to make sure. Any idea's on were i can start and what could be wrong.
