1989 Acura LS
Hi this is my first time at this site. Anyway im going to look a 1989 Acura LS that i found online forsale. It is an original owner vehicle and it has 130,000 miles on it & is 5 speed manual transmission. I dont know much about acuras. Is this year vehicle a realible vehicle or are ther problems with this year vehicle. It appears to be prorperly maintained by appearance from pics online. The owner also said it may need a abs pump. I still have to veiw the vehicle but before i do that I was hoping to get some input on it to see if it is even worth viewing. Thanks Ahead for Any input. I did some research on the abs pump but I'd would like to know if it is diy project. Any opinions about this car?

An '89LS w/130K miles properly maintained is a good vehicle. The ABS issue is one that occurs often in this car. Most people disconnect the fuses to the system and don't even worry about it. It being a 5-speed seems to be desireable for a lot of people...even though the '89 & '90LS Coupes that I have are both autos! You should try to get as much maintenance history on the car as possible. It should have had the timing belt/water pump changed @ 90K miles ( that's a MUST ) and your CV boots/axles may need replacement soon. Make sure the roof drain plugs are clear...as the sunroofs are made to drain into them...if not......one day you'll get quite the wet surprise as you're driving along. Best of luck !

nd 1980 LS. Thank you for reply I will make note of your suggestions. And being that he his the original I will be looking for those maintenance records. Any idea on what the cost of replacing the cv boots and axles might cost? Thanks Again.

If the CV boots are just frayed....and the axles/joints haven't been compromised a couple of hundred for just the boots. If you need new axles.....$ 400 - $ 500 depending if you go to a dealer...or if you know a good mechanic who's relatively inexpensive!
