Didn't mean to start a big argument here!! (I didn't know Sleeprlegend was using the info centre ...he didn't say that.) I agree with Jeef ...you need to do several runs / refills to get accurate measurements ..I'm not saying that my method is exact science either, but that's basically how the engineers do it: drain the tank completely, put in a measured amount of fuel ..do a run, and see how long the fuel lasts. Even though there's more technology in these G1 Legends than there was in the original Moon Lander ....sometimes its not all that accurate. Example: the "acceptable" 10% tolerance in speedometer accuracy ...try arguin that one in front of a judge!!

Car 1: 90 Legend Coupe L
I averaged 30mpg on a 300 mile trip.

I filled it up at Shell Before I left (no topoff) drove 300 miles, then filled back up again (no topoff) and Took the Gallons and Divided that into 300 and came out with 30MPG and some change.

Thats pretty Good considering the performance mods I have and the weather that day (heavy rain).

I had my cruise set at 75mph and hit 110mph once

The problem with the full tank method is that I am rarely ever on the interstate long enough to burn a whole tank. Here is what I am going to do. I am going to reset the average MPG at my next fill up. When I fill up again I will do the math and check the computer. I can not imagine this being wrong if everything is functioning properly. All the computer does is calculate the amount of gas going into the motor, which another computer tells the motor percicely and it would be much easier to share that info than make a sensor for it, and the distance travled, sipmle functioning spedo and odo. That is all you should need for it to be accurate. I will test is, but it will be later in the week before I fill up and probably take me a week to burn the whole tank. I will let you know what I find.
Later!

I've done the math before on my own MPG meter (comparing it to miles/gallons) and it overstated my milage by about 2-3mpg...still gives you a good idea though of what you are running.

Well, today I filled the tank. I did the math and it came out to an average of 23.18 MPG. My computer in the car read 23.0MPG and had just droped from 23.1. This was not 100% accurate because when I last filled up I toped it off and I did not reset the MPG for about 1 mile, until I was on the interstate. This time I stopped it at the first click of the pump and I reset my MPG as soon as the car started. Next fill up I will stop at the first click and do the math again. So far it looks like this things is very accurate.

Car 1: Not an Acura
I just don't understand how everyone is getting such low MPG ratings. Are ya'll using premium or something? I'm getting between 34 and 38 MPG highway and 28 - 32 city. Might be my light foot (except when some bugger tries to run me!). On the trip from Boston to Orlando I only used 2 1/4 tank fulls of fuel. Filled up before I left, filled again at NC/VA state lines and then again in Jacksonville. When I got to Orlando I still had 3/4 of a tank!

One thing to remember is that these are tank numbers. Not just what the computer says. Here is my report for the little bit I have been doing my test on the accuracy of the computer:

Lee, that is some sweet research you've done there...most people pop on here and say they're getting 40 million miles to the tank without ever doing the math...great job.
