Cleaning EGR Valve

About how would I go about cleaning my EGR valve?

Or maybe it would be better swapping it with the one on the 1988 Legend Sedan we have out there that we don't use?

How hard is it to switch out an EGR valve? Could I do it in two hours?

Thanks!

I cleaned mine last year and it was a pain to get off because of the location of the screws. there like tucked under the valve making it hard to get a tool under it.

you can do it in less then 2 hours. after removing mine the first time I had to remove it a second time because I wanted to replace the screws that came on it with Allen screws from Ace Hardware of the same size. The second time I removed it took me less than 30 minutes removal and install.

The first time took a couple hours because I couldnt get to the screws.

But after I cleaned the valve I really didnt notice a big difference in performance but my rpm's changed and I had to turn the idle down.

use a flexible wire brush and engine cleaner or some kind of carbon cleaner. its thick and it dont wanna come off.

hope it helps ya.
