It's a pressurized system, so if you have a crack, seam, etc., there is the potential.

Coolant leaking from the top of the reservoir after reaching operating temperature would indicate either the system is overfilled or there is a leaking head gasket allowing exhaust gas into the coolant passages.

Considering the age of our cars, I'd be more inclined to think cracked plastic.

nothing leaking in the oil. nothing leaking on the ground , just comming out of the container. replaced the container and another thermostate today. so far nothing coming out. I hope it was just a faulty container or a faulty Thermo.

MrSmith;
You jinxed me!!! Now I have the same problem!!! Lol... I'm going to replace my coolant bottle too. My problem is similar to yours. I drive the car, reach operating temperature, turn it off....coolant leak. I've been taking my time with this, but it starting to get hot out here in SoCAL..
How's MrWesson?....

MrWessons Fine.

I got my bottle from the pull apart place here in Atl for 5.00 and the thermo for 9.00. it was just that cheap and I havent had a leak sence. I took the bottle off of a coupe and cleaned it real good. im glad i have no more leaks.

I notice if the car has the info system, the bottle is different. The bottle for cars with the info system have a wider mouth to allow the sensor apparatus to fit.
Are you friendly with Misters Colt, Baretta and Ruger?

No, I actually have an '88L 5 speed coupe. In '88, the L coupes have the info system. I think that was the case for the '87s, too.
