when i start to move in 1st or reverse the wheels shudder for a split second then begin to turn but they shudder violently. any ideas... wheel bearings, cv joints? I dont know much about these front wheel drive cars. feels like something is very loose when i go to initially move.

well to see if your bearings are bad jack up your car and grab the tire and try to shake it. If it moves around then its a bad bearing. now for a bad cv axle just listen when your driving at slow speeds listen for a clicking sound. hope this helps.

it doesnt tick or click at low speeds it just feels like theres slop when you first start moving. thanks for the help though

check in the wheel well for grease thats another indication of a bad cv joint.

no other ideas.... i cant figure out what it is! really starting to get annoying.
