Thumbs up G1 Acura Legend FAQ...

Here is a new and improved G1 FAQ with clickable links to threads that will answer questions for some of the most common questions, issues, and problems that arise with our G1's.

Please NO QUESTIONS in this thread!! That is what happened to our other FAQ...it got so cluttered with questions, answers, and discussion that it was almost impossible to find certain things...Only add useful info to this thread and I will periodically update the first post to include new entries for easier Newbie access...any questions or comments left on this thread that dont contribute will be deleted or moved...Thanks!!

First things first...the SEARCH Function.
There are many things that have been discussed here many times before...check it out and do lots of research...if you cant find your answer in a SEARCH or in this FAQ...start a new thread...and heres a little TIP:

You can narrow down your search to only the G1 Section by selecting it in the "Search in Forum" box!

FAQ

Q: How can I go faster for the least amount of money?
A: The aftermarket is still not kind to our Legends and most basic bolt-ons are custom made DIY's; check the performance section above...otherwise your best bet is to spend at least a couple thousand dollars for a custom Turbo application (at least $4000 for a decent one).

Q: Will an NSX, G2, or any other Honda V6 fit into my Legend?
A: No...not without lots of mods and lots of $$$

Q: Where can I buy clear corners?
A: Clear corners are not readily available at an Import Shop for us like a CB7 Accord. They were used in JDM, ADM, and EDM cars only and are thus very rare and often expensive. Also, clears from any other cars WILL NOT fit...nor will corners from a sedan go onto a coupe or vise versa.

Q: Will any parts from an Accord fit onto my Legend?
A: Most things will NOT. Again, with modifications and money, you can do pretty much anything. I have seen Accord headlights put onto a G1 Coupe before, but it took extensive mods, and still did not look too nice in the end. So with the exception of maybe some Phillips Screws, bolts, emblems, and other misc. items, not much can be interchanged between the Accord and the G1 Legend.

Taken from the Acura Legend Wiki:

Honda introduced the model in 1985 in Japan to be their premier luxury model and in 1986 North America as the range-topping model in its then-new Acura lineup. The first generation Legend is notable for many technical innovations. The coupe was the first to be engineered using CAD (computer aided design). Sedan models came to market first, powered by a 151 hp (113 kW) 2.5 L C25A V6 with coupes appearing for 1987 powered by a new 161 hp (120 kW) 2.7 L C27A engine. Sedans received the new engine for 1988. Production of the first generation models ended in 1990 as a second generation version became available.

The Legend was indeed an impressive car receiving accolades from all sides, winning Car and Driver's Ten Best three years in a row and Motor Trend's "Import Car of the Year" for 1987. Legends were regarded for their impeccable fit and finish, incredible reliability, and good performance. Manual-equipped models could sprint to 60 mph (97 km/h) in under 8 seconds and reach a top speed of 135 mph (217 km/h). Sedan models had a coefficient of drag of .32, while coupes were only .30.

Technical highlights were numerous, featuring a 24-valve V6 engine, variable length intake manifold, double-wishbone suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, air bag and an information system that could monitor maintenance intervals, fluid levels, and fuel economy.

In 1989, the sedan received some minor tweaks with new one-piece front headlamps, a new front bumper, a revised trunk lid, new tail lights, and new alloy wheels. Inside, a revised dash and seat cloth patterns is also noticeable. The high end LS now featured a trip computer in the center stack.

In 1990, the Legend LS coupe was revamped with a woodgrain interior, clear/red taillights, and a new body-colored grille. The sedans also received the woodgrain interior for the LS model.
