Hooked battery up backwards -- NOT GOOD
Last night while driving, my '88 2 door stalled on me twice! Luckily I had jumper cables and my spare battery out of my TL Type S. Anyways, after it stalled twice, and knowing the batteries had the same dimensions, I figured that I would just swap the batteries. I completed the swap, but when I re-hooked the battery I never noticed that the battery terminals on the new battery were opposite the old battery.ffice
ffice" />Well, as soon as touched the positive to the negative side, sparks came out of the passenger side of the engine, the horn went off, and all the lights lit up - all with no keys in the ignition. Long story short, the car would not even turn over after. All the electronics, like interior lights, antenna, radio etc... are still working. Anyone know what possible damage I caused? And how bad is this going to hurt my wallet? Do our cars have a saftey, fuses or diodes, that save big dollar parts? -or am I screwed? |

yeah first i would do is check the fuses after that and you get the car to work whever glitchs you get trace the wires back from that because they might have melted and fused to something else those sparks might have been from your alternater
