Windshield Wiper Problem
We've had a 1991 Acura Legend Couple LS for several years. Only 118K. We love it.
This weekend the wipers started acting up. Intermittent and normal speed settings on the control stalk no longer work. Fast speed works fine. We can pull on the stalk and the wipers move, but stop when we let go of the stalk. The wipers do not "seat" in their rest position when allowed to stop at the bottom. Any suggestions? Is this a switch problem, a controller problem or wiper motor. Thanks for any assistance! |

Sounds like a relay problem. On Vigors (and I'm assuming that Legends of that era have the same circuitry) there are three relays controlling the wipers. There's a (1) low speed relay, which feeds an (2) intermittant wiper relay, and then there's a (3) high speed relay. If the low speed relay isn't working (bad relay coil, corroded relay contacts), then you'll lose low speed and intermittant operation.

Dunno for sure. On a Vigor, there are two mounted on the right side of the radiator shroud and the third one is back by the firewall (near the brake master cylinder). But I have no idea where they would be on a Legend. MAYBE the same place.
Can anyone help? |

It could possibly be the stalk itself too...either way you could definitely find any of these parts at a junkyard and Im willing to bet that the relays will be interchangeable between several Honda models...
Also this is the G1 section....your 91 is a G2....but no biggie!!

One thing I'd check for is to make sure the wipers arn't in winter mode (I know on G1's its a switch under the steering colom).
