1992 Legend Main Relay or Fuel Pump Issue? Help!

Hello Everyone!

I am new to the forum, so if my exact problem is specified in another thread, I do apologize. I just have not found any threads pertaining to my issue

So I bought a 92 Legend back in September of 2010 and it has been running like a champ. However, the car started this thing where it would not turn over when I tried to start if the "D4" light did not light up. Sometimes it does right away, and sometimes it just decides it doesn't want to light up, and thus will not start.

That being said, on Wednesday, the car started fine, and shut off right away - So I had to give it gas to get it to actually stay on. On Friday, no signs of anything wrong whatsoever, but Friday evening, while driving about 45mph, the car just shut off while giving gas - Which then resulted in me having to get it towed back home. The "D4" light did not light up after it shut off that night. I since then have not tried to restart the car, as our mechanic will be coming over to have a look at it.

I am curious: What could this be? I keep reading about it being the main relay, but our mechanic was over once before and tested it saying it was good. And what could be causing the "D4" to light up and sometimes not light up? Is this more likely a fuel pump issue rather than a main relay issue?

Any help would be very much appreciated. And again, I am very sorry if this same issue is posted in another thread

Thanks!

The most likely cause is a bad PCM (Powertrain Control Module). Check to see if the D4 lights when you actually shift into D4, even if the car won't start. If it does, Acura suggests substituting a known good PCM.

Even if it doesn't light, the diagnostics point to substituting a known good part. Other than that, it goes into opens or short circuits in wiring, which from my experience, applies mostly applies to vehicles that have either been rebuilt, or have aftermarket security systems installed.
