all help greatly appreciated.....and rad and cap is within a year old and i see no leaks.

Have you check the water pump? Does the pump sound like it has some loose marbles? If yes that the bearings starting to go and it needs to be replaced ASAP? Does the fan clutch also engage? Typically they will not if the engine is cold, but turns on when it gets real warm.

Take care,
OEM Bob

water pump makes no noises and HAS been replaced within the last 3 yrs.... and the more i read i will next check resevior for any signs of oil and oil for any milkyness. temp fan DOES come on but the a/c fan doesnt...would THAT cause any overheat ?

OR...have you ever heard of a cooling fan work intermittiently ???

ALso...what is the part, at back of motor, next to the heater hoses, it has 1 small like 1/8 or 3/16 in hose and bolts to the back of the ....looks like some kind of valve ??

is there enough coolant/antifreeze in the acura slx radiator? Don't just look inside the plastic overflow bottle, but remove the radiator cap (when the engine is cold) and look inside the radiator. You should be able to physically see the fluid level if it is at its proper level. Most cars and trucks will hold 1 1/2-2 gallons of coolant and water mixture. If you have to add more than a pint of fluid you should have the cooling system pressure tested for a leak. If you see any obvious fluid loss on the ground or in the engine compartment, you should also have the system tested for leaks.

Are you sure its not the head gasket? I think that is a common trouble spot on these cars. Good luck.
