94 legend 133k miles, transmission tip?

I am thinking about purchasing a 94 legend with 133k miles on it(hopefully for 4 grand). But there is one problem. When I test drove the car, the transmission shifted harshly from 1-2, and then slightly less, but still kicked from 2-3 gear. Will this be a serious problem for me later on, or is this normal for 94 legends with this kind of mileage?
Thanks to anyone who replies to this in advance. Also, Hi, I am acura world newbie pleased to meet everyone here!

Hmmmm, scary. I drove one awhile back, same miles, same harsh shifts.
A Honda guy told me it's typical, but I was not comfy with it, didn't buy it.

The rear transmission mount is more than likely toast. A new mount costs a little over $100 at the dealership and labor is another couple bills.

Is there a chance that I would have to replace the entire transmission? If so, how much would it cost?????

also, am I getting a good deal on this car for 4.3 grand? It was previously owned by 2 owners, but the current owner had the car since 25k miles, and they are fairly elderly people.

If the transmission is shifting, there should be no reason to replace the transmission. Just get the mount fixed. If you must replace the tranny, a used one from ebay runs around $250-$300 and whatever labor cost would be.

A harsh 1 - 2 shift is common in these cars. Do a search in Acura-Legend.com. It may be annoying but doesn't indicate a problem. I had my rear transmission mount replaced (it was broken) but this made no difference. A bigger concern would be if the transmission was slipping.

Normal - don't worry about it.

I have a 94, with the new mount, and It's ALWAYS had a hard 1-2 shift with no other problems. Have had the car from 108k miles to 150k miles now..
Probably no big deal..

I think you should be able to offer about $2500.00. Dont forget its a 14 year old car now. Still a beauty but shes 14.

Figure on spending $1500 for parts and stuff so that puts you upto 4 grand.
Good luck

So I would guess you guys feel 5500 for a an LS 4 door Legend is too high in a California car? I'm looking at a very nice one next week. No scratches and 13 years of service records.
