Heat blows cold air when idle

Please help....I'm getting cold. The winters are anywhere from -20 to 20 degrees in Wisconsin.

I have an automatic 93 legend with 175k miles. The heat blows cold when the car is in idle and blows hot when it's running. What can cause this problem? It can't be the head gasket because there's no white smoke or funky smell at the tailpipe.

I would look at or change the radiator thermostat first...could very likely be the problem..

Good Luck

Could be that you have air in the system. Bleed the engine of any air from the cooling system.
