Car 1: 88 ford ranger
Car 2: 92 acura legend
potential main relay issue > mechanic > suspension issue

Been a reader since I got my 92 legend 4 years ago, but I've usually managed to find my solutions in existing posts.

I've been having an issue with starting the car when it's hot out for the past two years now (first appeared in July 06) and had taken it in to the mechanic's once, and they failed to diagnose the problem after charging us a fair bit of money. I've just put up with it for a while, but recently it's become much more sensitive and problematic. Did some more digging, and found reports of a main relay issue. Took it in to the mechanic, told him precisely that we wanted him to order the main relay and replace it. He insisted our diagnosis was wrong, because the starter wouldn't turn over if it was the relay, and insisted on doing diagnostics, some including putting the car on the lift.

Went to pick the car up today, after 3 days without it--and this mechanic also failing to diagnose the issue and not wanting to replace the main relay. Started driving the car and the suspension is horrible. It was rocking like a rowboat on open seas. Spoke to the mechanic who is, of course, denying knowing anything about it, "we just drove it in and out of the shop, we didn't even drive it around."

It wasn't doing it when I dropped it off, and I noticed it as soon as I left, not progressively as I drove. Is there any way this could've been caused by putting the car up on the lift, or something else they did? I asked the mechanic and he denied this was a possibility, too. I'm rather sick of the guy at this point. He wants to see it again in the morning, but I'm not particularly inclined to pay for diagnostics we told him he didn't need, for being without my car for three days, for not getting the problem fixed, AND for him to fix a suspension issue that wasn't present when I dropped the car off.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah unfortunately theres not much you can do...your word against his...

1) Dont ever go back and make sure no one you know goes back either

2) Try resoldering your own Main Relay to see if it helps...
