Pull the trigger?

I'm looking at a 94 coupe with 104,000 miles on it for $3500.

Biggest problem is its an auto and I've been a dedicated stick guy since I started driving. I could get used to it, but its going to take a while.

It looks decent and drives like a dream (not quite as quick steering as my old 87 legend, but much faster), but there are some definite paint issues on the bumpers and roof, the interior is just a bit shabby, and the tires need replacing. There are lots of foot scuffs on the inside of the doors, wear on the drivers leather etc.

It doesn't seem like it was driven hard, but the owner said they recently replaced the rear brakes and timing belt and that the biggest repair to the car was a cracked radiator a couple years ago that was replaced along with the dying hoses.

This is the first time in my life I will actually have disposable income to properly take care of a car (just got out of college) and I want to restore this thing and get it looking tip top. I'm just cant decide if this is the right car to work with. Will it being an auto hurt me come resale time? I plan to keep the thing for a while, but who knows.

I say offfer them $1800.00 to start and I would not go more than $2800.00 as it has 104K on her, and the condition if its like you say makes it a nice project car.

Good luck
