Timing Belt Broke 91 Acura Legend

My timing belt broke at 159,000 miles. I purchased in 2003 with 119,000 miles on it. They told me it was changed at 89,000 miles. Honda dealer recommends a used replacement engine at a cost of $5300.00
Question: This is an interference engine right? So I mine as well junk my car right or sell it if I can get close to $500.00 for it right. I just spent $600.00 last week cause it wouldn't start, they said it was the main relay. I have to pay $183.00 for them finding out the timing belt was broke plus $75.00 for the towing. Would it be worth towing back to my house and trying to put on a new timing belt myself to see if it would start or just a waste of time because everything is probably bent all up from the timing belt breaking? Why do they make interference engines? Do they perform better then non-interference engines? Sorry for so many questions. Just thought I'd add them all in one. Thanks for any help or advice given.

hopefully when it snapped you knew it right away and didnt try to crank the shit out of it? most likely bent valves. either get your head rebuild or buy a used one if possible, that'll be cheaper. im sure of..still new to the legend
