Wow, thanks for the invite, Sky...

Great shots. I think the runner-up best photo would be the best if the clouds on the left side weren't there. Perhaps a touch-up is in need...

I love that jet truck. He was in Daytona last fall and I love how you can feel it when he accelerates.

I have to use the camera more... it's been a while since I took some shots.

Nice pics Sky - I wish i had the cam 200 AF system of the d200. My d50 isn't nearly as accurate.

This is for the You and Mandi:

I really don't think you need a $1500 70-200VR. Yes you will probably be able to get better pics, but that's a ridiculous amount of money if you're not using it to earn a living. Especially if you're going to be shooting mostly outdoors in sunny Florida, you don't need a fast 2.8 telezoom with VR.

Can I make some suggestions?
Sigma 70-300 APO - ~$200 very good for the money, takes sharp shots even at 300mm
Nikon 70-300 ED - ~250 similar to the sigma, but with better build quality.
Nikon 70-300 VR - ~500 Vastly improved optics over the ED version and obviously with VR, which may come in handy (Release date is early December)
Nikon 80-200 f2.8 AF-D ~600 used. Just as sharp as the 70-200 VR that you want, but lacks the AF-S and VR. It's a great lens if you decide you need the f2.8 for indoor work. Keep in mind that this and the 70-200 VR are freaking HUGE - you will definitely draw some attention
Sigma 50-150 f2.8 - ~650. Just released, seems like an interesting focal length, but seems like you might want more reach.

Hafid - I'm using opanda exif viewer. Usually I can just right click on the picture and hit view exif, but it doesn't work for yours.

Thanks to all for the compliments. I guess anyone can grab a few good ones out of 1100. It's amazing how fast you get pictures when you shoot at high speed - 5 frames per second. :O It has a buffer for about 15 frames so I can shoot for 3 seconds or more. Fills a card up fast like that.

Invite... heh oh yeah. We didn't even invite the neighbors, even though we meant to. And yeah - the truck was cool. Insane fast. He did some cool stuff with the afterburner where it was like mini-explosions.

Thanks for the suggestions - that new Nikon that is coming out caught my eye too. The 70-300 looks like an interesting lens too. The way I usually buy stuff is to look at the best first () and then when it's actually time to buy something, I'll look at the rest and usually settle for somewhere in the middle-high end. You better bet I wanted a D2X.

Oh - and I used manual focus.

Sky - Just trying to keep the peace between you and Mandi...

Haf - Ok I can see it doing it that way. Any idea why Opanda can't read it directly?

I appreciate it man - you've got your pulse on new equipment and stuff in my price range.

Haha I'm eyeing the sigma 50-150 f2.8 right now, although I may wait for the Tokina 50-135 f2.8 to before i decide which to get.

I really need a fast telephoto for portraits and indoor shots. I'm kind of become the unofficial photographer for my small group/church so that's how I'm justifying it.

BTW - my current lens kit is now the sigma 18-50 f2.8, nikon 50 f1.4 (should be sitting at my front door right now), and a sb600 for indoor work.

I managed to go through my tape of the air show last fall and I found it. I uploaded it to You Tube. Here it is:

great pics Sky! I just saw the Blue Angels about a month ago, they're amazing. Did the cargo plane do a jet assisted takeoff? It did when I saw it & it was pretty cool.

What is it w/jet trucks at airshows? There was a diff. one at the show I went to. It was trying to race a prop. plane already in flight, but he couldn't time it right. lame
