It Could Be Worse - You Could Be Flying

Chicago's O'Hare airport was severely delayed by dense fog yesterday. More than 200 flights were canceled and flights were delayed by 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Atlanta Airport was swamped.

Boston's Logan Airport was suffering delays.

Los Angeles International had lines out the terminals.

Glad I'm staying home!

Kev - Aren't you glad you're driving home to be with family?

If you are Flying - be patient!!!

We flew out of Spokane for Minneapolis one year on Christmas Day. That was the most enjoyable flight I can ever remember.

Then the next year, we hit Portland through Denver and had the worst night mare of all time. Spent the night in Stapleton International with a six month old infant and watched the snow pile up.

Well, I'm driving from Salem, OR to San Francisco (600+ miles) on the 30th in my new-to-me '04 TL. I'm not exactly looking forward to it as we're getting hit with some good storms coming in off the ocean and I expect snow going over the Siskiyou Mtns. between OR and CA.

So I went out and bought some Type "S" cable chains and threw them in the trunk. They llok fairly simple to put on, but it's a royal PITA anyway.

Very glad I don't have to fly. Not sure yet if I'm hitching a ride with my roommate or taking the train.

Looking outside, it's still kinda foggy. I can't see the Sears Tower, which means visibility is under a mile.

But it is 50 degrees out, which is awesome!

I can remember the worst experience at the airport for me was going to Hawaii, straight from NY. The flight got delayed 6 hours, so my family and I were stuck at the airport. Then when we got on the plane we were sitting in the terminal for 2 hours because they were repairing the plane. And then finally the 11 and 1/2 hour flight to Hawaii yay... Ended up getting into Honolulu at about 4 in the morning Hawaii time.

Although through all of that pain and suffering I ended up loving the entire trip and I want to move to Maui because it is the most beautiful place I've ever been!

I hate the airport security measures. The last time I was going to Hawaii from SFO, I forgot to take my belt off and I was thrown into this large chamber where they pressurize air all over you to make sure your not carrying explosives on you. Then I had to wait another 20 min so they could look in every appliance like my camera, psp, laptop, etc. Now you can't carry liquids on board, is that about?

At least they didn't do the "Body Cavity Search" on ya' man! Be very happy about that!

For once I'm glad I'm so lilly white and not foreign looking.

In Denver they have thsoe pressurized air things at all the gates right after the metal detector... first time I'd seen that.

My favorite trick is get in that device and rip a good old fashioned and watch their eyes when it starts changing colors. Especially when I've had eggs or wings within 24 hours.

Do I detect an "arrangement" in the works?
