You have to transfer the title and probably fill out the Department of Motor Vehicles bill of sale (I'm not overly familar with NY's procedures). It's a good idea to photocopy the signed transfer papers. Don't forget to cancel your insurance and turn in your plates either or George Bukkake will come and get you

It varies quite a bit from state to state from what I've seen...

it's pretty Simple in IL. Transfer title, (no contracts/bill of sale neccessary) cancel plates & Insurance.

Good Luck Chief

thanks guys.

I don't think it's neccesary to write up a contract here either but I don't want any problems with the guy if anything goes wrong with the car and he tries to blame it on me.

anymore??

Dude, you have to cover your ass either way so write up a contract. It doesn't have to be formal, just something stating that the buyer has inspected the car and performed due diligence and you are no longer liable.

In most cases, a simple transfer of title should be sufficient but as others said, check with your local state laws.

Good luck! Also, if you are friendly with the salesperson that sold you your TL, you could ask him.

The A4 is

Just remember one thing: Never ever put a wing on the trunk of the A4. People who do that should be dragged out in the street and run over multiple times with a steamroller.
