More Proof You Can't Believe News Reports (home prices)

Yep, take your best guess at what the real truth is in home prices in July...

I have no idea who got it wrong. I was just pointing out how one report indicates a rise and the other a dip. So, who WOULD you know to believe? And if this flagrant example of contrasting facts doesn't prove the untrustworthiness of ANY news, then what does?

Those two headlines, with few details and no context, prove absolutely nothing.

Seems that .6% is way too small of a number to say anything

They both may have got their numbers from different sources, I would imagine it would be hard to keep track of EVERY home being bought/sold in the US.

Beg to differ...

Headlines themselves, though short, constitute news in a "capsule". And here we have on the same page, two headlines that constrast. Assuming the full report attached to the headlines adhere to what the headlines suggest, then one can assume the contrast continues. IF, however, the full report does not follow the lead of the headline, then shame on them for that.

I agree with Chuck.

I used to watch a lot of Headline News and those two headlines contradicting does mean quite a lot...

It's kind of like the report that came out saying the recession ended in July (I believe?) of 2009. Yeah fucking right... look at the economy still, job market/unemployment, housing market... etc...
