Yeah we can put the sensor on the back porch. It says up to 100 feet.

Nice! I love those. I had a nice one in college with the wireless outdoor sensor. It was sweet being able to look at the main unit and see the indoor/outdoor temp, humidity, weather patterns, precipitation, time of day, moon cycles, etc.

But $5? That's pretty limiting. Our max is at $20 (and I think a lot of people are gifting booze).

Yeah $5 doesn't really get much nice but you should see some of them fighting over $5 giftcards and such. I looked mine up and it's between $15 and $25.
